The Young Global Economist Society (YGES) is thrilled to announce a three-year partnership with the African Economic Scholars Program (AESP). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 9 September 2024.
The African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) is an initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of policymakers in Africa by equipping them with advanced tools and training. The program targets talented undergraduate students in their penultimate or final year of study who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong interest in policymaking. Through this program, scholars will gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of policymakers and the importance of holistic development in shaping effective policy.
Thanda Sithole, Head of Global Partnerships at YGES, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating,
“This partnership is crucial as it reflects the shared strategic vision of both organizations to train, mentor, and foster new economic thinking among young professionals aspiring to be economists and policymakers.”
Great Mnamani, Founder of AESP, expressed his excitement, noting that the partnership will further strengthen AESP’s mission to cultivate the next generation of policymakers in Africa.
